North Fork Snoqualmie - July 2008

The NF Snoqualmie is a rare treat. Flows are generally too low and the run starts with a 1/4-mile hike in and ends with a 1-mile hike out. Having a nice flow and good weather made that less of an issue.

Overall, the run is easy class III, with lots of fast-moving water in between. Some rapids may border on class III+ at moderate flows as they run together. Trees can be a problem, though on this trip the only river-wide log still had room around it on the right. Near the end of the run, there is a rapid with a huge hole in it that flipped me with a perfect vertical backflip - have fun with that one!

While I would prefer not having to hike the 1 mile back to the car, it won't prevent me from doing this run again. I used an NRS IK backpack to carry my boat, and that made things much easier.
