Rattlesnake Lake

Rattlesnake Lake is a small lake in the mountains South of North Bend, Washington. This lake stands on the site of an old town called Moncton. The lake was caused by the creation of another lake, which is used to store part of the Seattle water supply, which runs down the other side of the mountain.

Winter 2000

In the winter, the lake is usually low, and you can see the tree stumps.

Spring 2001

The lake is unusually low this year. Normally by this time, the Spring floods have started and the lake has begun to fill up. Supposedly, you can see the foundations of the old town of Moncton that was covered by the lake when they created it, but I couldn't see much other than some old dock pilings.
